RCI VR166 Vertical Rod

The dormakaba RCI VR166 is a small-footprint vertical rod electric strike: a simple locking solution for surface vertical rod exit devices that have a Pullman style latch. It can be used in single or double-door applications and is designed for a minimum 2-1/16 in. (52 mm) backset of the top latch.

Installation: the simple design requires only a 2-1/2 in. x 1-5/16 in. (63 mm x 33 mm) cut-out in the frame, and the total footprint of the strike does not exceed 4-1/8 in. x 2 in. x 5/8 in. (104 mm x 50 mm x 16 mm). Horizontal adjustability of 5/16 in. (8 mm) takes up frame and door variations. The strike is solenoid activated.

Strength, power and listings: 1,500 lbf (6,672 N) static and 70 ft-lb (95 J) dynamic, 250,000 cycles, fail-secure (stays locked when power is removed). It draws 210 mA at 12 VDC on field-selectable 12/24 VDC or 12 to 24 VAC. The VR166 is UL 294 (Underwriters Laboratories, 6th edition) listed as an access control unit accessory and UL 1034 burglary-resistant listed. An optional latch and keeper monitor model is available, and the strike carries a 5 year limited warranty.
