Tasharna Morgan-West - Marketing Coordinator

I started working for dormakaba UK & Ireland in December 2018 and came in as a Marketing Coordinator, working within the Marketing & Communications department. I also handle most event management and trade shows, as well as supporting the Mechanical Key Systems & Safelocks business unit with social media and campaigns.

What led you into this career/role?
Marketing has always been of interest to me simply because it is a wide reaching, dynamic part of the business that reaches out to customers in informative and sometimes fun ways. I’ve worked my way through from customer service roles in order to get into marketing, first branching into Marketing on a secondment at a previous company. I feel like the customer service roles and talking to customers about products and how they may be useful to them, features/benefits, etc encompass much of what marketing is without the ‘active’ selling part!

Why should someone join dormakaba?
dormakaba has a great work culture and I felt welcome as soon as I joined. Everyone in the business is friendly and happy to help. There is support for training and development within your role and managers definitely support and encourage movement within the business. Learning more about the products we sell and setting up training whether with sales people, product marketing managers or on our mobile showroom is available.

What is your best memory of working for dormakaba?
My best memory of working for dormakaba is working on my first major event (MLA) in October, and seeing all the hardwork that myself and my colleagues put into the artwork, graphics and workable samples for the stand come to fruition. I definitely felt a sense of pride that this was my company, and that we have amazing people and interesting, useful and innovative products to show to our customers.

Just for fun…

What film can you watch over and over again, without getting tired of?
I can watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s a million times over and never get sick of it! I love Audrey Hepburn’s aura!
