For nearly 75 years, The Viscardi Center has educated, employed, and empowered children, adults, and veterans with disabilities or similar needs. Across its campus, dormakaba Automatic Entrance Solutions help make something as everyday as opening a door one less barrier to independence. Challenges

How can every entrance support independent movement and safety?

Older automatic sliding doors needed to be replaced with modern, reliable solutions.
The Center needed a partner with the technician capacity to support ongoing service needs, including emergencies.
Two key entrance vestibules must reliably support the movement of hundreds of students to transportation at the end of each day. Door downtime can disrupt a highly coordinated dismissal process.
Entrances must support wheelchair users and others with varying mobility needs. Different entrances and users require different opening and activation needs, including automatic and push-button operation.
Create safe, accessible circulation that goes beyond minimum Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance to support dignity and participation.
Provide responsive, cost-conscious service so more nonprofit funding can support students and programs.

When access works, the mission moves forward

Accessibility designed around people. At The Viscardi Center, the nine dormakaba automatic sliding doors and six swing door operators add more than convenience. They reduce the need for assistance and help students, staff, and visitors move through the building with greater confidence.

Reliable movement throughout the day. Automatic entrances support arrival and movement between classrooms and activity areas. Because the doors are among the first building systems students encounter each morning, dependable operation is essential to safety, inclusion, and the rhythm of campus life.

A partnership that supports the mission. The Center describes dormakaba products and service as reliable and cost-effective. For five years, dormakaba has supported The Viscardi Center through an ongoing service partnership. Smooth installation, low service demands and access to experienced technicians help protect facility uptime and provide the responsive support the Center needs.
