Day in the life of a Purchasing Assistant

Meet Ella, a Purchasing Assistant in our Hitchin office

What does your day-to-day role as a Purchasing Assistant entail?
My day-to-day starts with running through the out of stocks report checking to see if there are any issues that need to be dealt with immediately, running through my exceptions report to order any items stocked or non-stocked need ordering. Dealing with Contracts and ordering stock as and when required for their projects. I also manage the stationery and workwear ordering which is done once a week. Looking after the mobile phones for the whole business and changing any required requests. Talking to people all over the world whether for quotations or chasing orders!

What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy the fact that I deal with so many different countries on a daily basis.

What is the most challenging aspect of your role?
When you order goods and they have been confirmed but we do not receive them! This can cause issues as if the items are non-stocked we are delaying the customers in receiving their orders!

What led you into this career?
I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to do something completely different to my previous job roles.
