Day in the life of a Junior Business Controller
Meet Zivanayi, a Junior Business Controller in our Hitchin office
What does your day-to-day role as a Junior Business Controller entail?
I usually log into my computer and read my emails ,make a cuppa and then rev up for a day of generating reports to support the business. Answering ad -hoc tasks about excel, our sales numbers or targets to keep the business informed of our progress towards budgets is also an important part of what I do.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I really enjoy understanding how the different parts of the business come together to achieve a common goal – it’s very interesting for me. I also get to see things from above, and knowing how each activity completed by individual persons adds value to the business, is really great to see.
What is the most challenging aspect of your role?
For me personally, it’s the collaboration aspect. Even though I think it is a great part of my job, I am not so confident at times – this is something that I am working on, but thankfully I have a great team around me to support me with this.
Why did this role appeal to you?
I studied and enjoyed maths, and so wanted a job where I could explore a business, use numbers and learn more about the applications of maths. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to use the quadratic formula just yet!
When I came to the interview, I met my (soon to be!) colleagues Vlad and Kristina. They made me feel welcome, and combined with my knowledge of dormakaba and the role, really made me want the job, and so I was so pleased when they offered me the role. The welcoming nature of the people at dormakaba was definitely an important aspect of me wanting the job.
Just for fun…
If you could do anything, what would be your dream job?
A medical statistician sounds boring- but I like the idea of doing complex mathematics that would have a worldly benefit.
