dormakaba launches AVA Entryway Intelligence to make automatic entrances more predictable

Thursday, November 5, 2026

INDIANAPOLIS, November 4, 2026 – dormakaba today introduces AVA Entryway Intelligence, a new solution designed to help facility managers better monitor and maintain automatic entrances. AVA will debut at International Facility Management Association (IFMA) World Workplace, November 18-20 in Anaheim, California.

Entryways are the first impression of a building and are among its most frequently used systems, yet facility teams have little insight into their condition until something goes wrong. Door failures can disrupt building operations, create safety concerns, and result in costly emergency service calls. AVA – which stands for Awareness, Visibility, Alerts – addresses this challenge by providing instant visibility, early detection of potential issues, and remote diagnostics. These insights help teams determine when service is needed and plan maintenance more effectively, giving them greater control over their budgets.

"Facility managers should know more about their entrances than whether they're working. AVA gives them a read on what's happening before it's a problem," said Derek Sarmas, Senior Vice President, Access Automation Solutions at dormakaba Americas. "This isn't an overengineered smart door. It's about fewer surprise phone calls at 2 a.m. and more control over something people depend on every day."

Designed for healthcare facilities, airports, retail properties, offices, higher education campuses, and other environments, the solution can be managed through dormakaba's secure cloud or integrated into existing building management and automation systems (BMS/BAS) through its open API. In the U.S., AVA is powered by EntriWorX™ Insights to deliver intelligence for dormakaba automatic doors. Future compatibility will include dormakaba Argus Air eGates.
