Seamless digital access elevates the guest experience

Creating a seamless, mobile-first guest experience on the Las Vegas Strip
Recognizing increasing demand for digital convenience and efficiency, Resorts World strategically sought to elevate its guest experience by streamlining check-in and enabling faster room access. The resort partnered with dormakaba to implement a digital access solution using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. At launch, no other hotel on the Las Vegas Strip offered guests room keys in Apple Wallet – a forward-thinking approach that eliminated traditional check-in friction while meeting modern travelers’ expectations.

Challenges
How do you create efficient, frictionless digital access for guests?
The previous mobile key system limited the resort’s customization of the guest experience
The system was also unable to support the resort’s vision of a comprehensive and seamless digital wallet key solution.
Long check-in lines and staffing constraints were a source of friction for guests.
App downloads and loyalty program requirements added barriers to adoption.
The resort needed a more flexible and scalable solution that could integrate with its broader tech ecosystem and support future innovation.

Partnership built on flexibility and choice
Collaborative partnership
The partnership between Resorts World Las Vegas, dormakaba, and Alliants – a hospitality guest experience platform and certified Apple Wallet Credential Manager – focused on flexibility, trust, and collaboration. dormakaba provided 100 electronic upgrade test kits, enabling Resorts World to thoroughly evaluate the NFC technology transition before full-scale implementation.
Scalable technology stack
At the heart of the partnership is dormakaba’s open, scalable technology platform – a key differentiator that allowed Resorts World to build on its existing lock hardware without requiring a complete system replacement.
Infrastructure support
The solution included deploying Quantum Pixel⁺ door locks – sleek, brass-finished hardware with embedded NFC capabilities for digital access. dormakaba also implemented RAC5, an access control solution that’s ideal for locations without traditional wiring infrastructure.
Room keys in Apple Wallet
At launch, no other establishment on the Las Vegas Strip offered guests room keys in Apple Wallet. This strategic move enhanced the guest experience by eliminating physical room keys and enabling guests to access their rooms using their iPhone or Apple Watch.
Key results
Following the introduction of web-based check-in and room keys in Apple Wallet, mobile check-in rates at Resorts World increased significantly. Conversion rates jumped from 10%–15% to over 44%, demonstrating that guests readily adopted the digital access solution.
