As Australia celebrated NAIDOC Week 2026, dormakaba Australia proudly acknowledged and celebrated this important national event by launching its inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) at a special event held on Tuesday 7 July 2026.
Held annually, NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the histories, cultures, achievements and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's theme, "50 Years of Deadly", marked a significant milestone, celebrating five decades of the modern NAIDOC movement and honouring the Elders, activists, artists, leaders and communities who have helped shape and strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, identity and advocacy over the past 50 years.
The launch of dormakaba Australia's inaugural Reflect RAP provided an opportunity for employees and First Nations representatives Jillian West and Uncle Shane Clark to come together to reflect, learn and acknowledge an important milestone in the organisation's reconciliation journey.

An important step in our reconciliation journey
The launch of our Reflect RAP represented an important foundation for dormakaba Australia as we continue to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives, and strengthen our relationships with First Nations peoples, communities and businesses.
Our Reflect RAP establishes a framework for action across four key pillars:
Relationships: Building respectful and mutually beneficial relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities
Respect: Increasing cultural understanding, awareness and capability across our organisation
Opportunities: Creating employment, supplier diversity and professional development opportunities
Governance: Embedding accountability, leadership and transparency throughout our reconciliation journey
While the launch of our Reflect RAP marked the beginning of a formal reconciliation journey for dormakaba Australia, it also reflected our broader commitment to listening, learning, engaging respectfully and creating meaningful opportunities across the communities in which we operate.
Celebrating NAIDOC Week at dormakaba
The RAP launch event brought together employees and guests to learn, reflect and celebrate during NAIDOC Week. The event included:
An introduction to dormakaba Australia's Reflect RAP
A Welcome to Country and cultural presentation from our guest speaker
Insights into what reconciliation means for our organisation and our people
A cultural morning tea featuring Indigenous catering
As part of our broader NAIDOC Week activities, employees were also encouraged to participate in educational activities and online learning opportunities designed to deepen understanding and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and achievements.

Acknowledging those who contributed
The development of dormakaba Australia's inaugural Reflect RAP was a collaborative effort involving employees from across the business who contributed their time, knowledge and commitment to establishing the foundations of our reconciliation journey.
We would like to sincerely thank the members of our RAP Working Group, our RAP Steering Committee, and our Wellbeing Team for their passion, leadership and dedication throughout the development and launch of our Reflect RAP. Their collective efforts have helped create a meaningful framework that will guide our organisation as we continue our reconciliation journey.
We also acknowledge the valuable support and guidance provided by our partners, including Reconciliation Australia, Supply Nation, and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and individuals who have shared their knowledge and experience with us throughout this process.
Continuing the journey
At dormakaba we recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey built on respect, understanding, partnership and action. Through our Reflect RAP, we have committed to strengthening relationships, increasing cultural awareness and creating positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and businesses across Australia.
The launch of our inaugural Reflect RAP marked an important milestone, but it also represented the beginning of a longer journey. We look forward to continuing to listen, learn and work collaboratively as we build stronger relationships and create meaningful opportunities for future generations.
