Tailored safe access solutions for a vibrant, accessible museum
The project to renovate the Museo delle Storie di Bergamo inside and out called for a unique approach that would combine safety, accessibility and the preservation of the institution's cultural and architectural heritage. As a partner on the project, dormakaba addressed these challenges by installing redundant ST Flex automatic sliding doors – designed to serve as an emergency exit – finished in RAL 7006 to blend in with the museum’s iconic architecture. The automatic sliding doors are equipped with a dual radar system in full compliance with EN 16005, ensuring safe access for visitors. Continuing with the theme of safe access, dormakaba contributed access solutions in the form of a two-leaf SST Flex breakout door at the ticket office entrance in the cloister. Furthermore, a single-leaf version in an attractive white finish was integrated into the secondary entrance. All access solutions were designed to complement the museum's existing architecture without adversely impacting on its aesthetics. Through its collaboration with dormakaba, the museum was able to enhance the visitor experience by ensuring smooth, safe access in full compliance with regulations while respecting the building’s historical heritage.
