dormakaba solution for OLYMPUS Europa Campus

In July 2021, Olympus Europe moved into its new Hamburg headquarters for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Olympus Deutschland GmbH. The state-of-the-art, sustainably constructed office building offers work facilities in modern, attractive spaces for more than 1,200 employees. The new Medical Training Center is also located on the Olympus Campus.

The interior architecture and design firm JOI-Design was in charge of the design and furnishings of the office space. The design of the foyer was one of the company’s main concerns. The design pool, centrally located in front of the company board with the corporate logo and framed by two staircases, is a striking visual feature. Everything is clearly and symmetrically arrayed. The separating systems providing smooth access control for employees and visitors needed to blend in with this clear structure. While security was the main aspect of the project, the design of the systems was also incredibly important for the company. After comprehensive and competent consultation from dormakaba and Hamburg-based Friedrich Marx GmbH & Co. KG, the decision was made to install the Argus sensor locks. These locks impressed with their function, construction, design, materials and flexible colour choices.

Marx, dormakaba’s Executive Solution partner, installed two double Argus 80 sensor locks in the foyer, each combined with one swing door to provide barrier-free access for wheelchair users and material transports and for use as escape routes. Two SafeRoute escape door terminals are integrated into the lock to facilitate opening in case of emergency. The interlocks are aligned with the pool to create spatial symmetry. The elegant Argus sensor interlocks have a distinctive design with straight lines and geometric corner radii. Two slim structures form a symmetrical unit with seemingly weightless glass doors. The access systems are convenient and have thus far functioned flawlessly. Olympus is highly satisfied with the consulting and cooperation with dormakaba and Marx.
