dormakaba’s Deborah Chance appointed as Vice Chair of the IAI

Deborah Chance, Customer Support Team Leader at dormakaba, has been appointed to the role of Vice Chair of the Institute of Architectural Ironmongers (IAI). Announced at the IAI’s AGM on the 28th April, Deborah will take over the role left vacant by outgoing Vice Chair, Joanne Milne-Rowe.

With nearly 18 years of industry experience, Deborah is also the Chair of the South West branch of the institute – a role she has held since 2016. Alongside her duties at the IAI, Deborah is the current Customer Team Support Leader at dormakaba where she has gained both a GAI and FDIS Diploma, as well as achieving RegAI status.

In addition, in 2016 she was awarded the GAI Award for services to the institute – an award given to an individual who has made a visible contribution at branch level.

Formed in 1961, the IAI provides education programmes to members of the institute, helping them to improve their knowledge and technical expertise in order to raise standards of practice throughout the industry.

“Being appointed Vice Chair of the IAI is an honour,” said Deborah. “Along with supporting the new Chair, it gives me a fantastic opportunity to support the continuous education of members within an ever-changing market to ensure the highest possible standards of education and professionalism.”
