Longstanding bespoke solutions for the Utility Industry upgrades Cen rating
Designed over 20 years ago by our in-house engineering department to meet the individual needs of our customers within specialist utility sectors, the Thorlock provides the ideal high security solution. Suitable for a variety of applications, with the product set to withstand the most determined security attack, the most common is safeguarding reservoir hatch covers.
Protecting clean water supplies from unauthorised access and the threat of contamination is vital – requiring a trusted, reliable padlock specification. When water companies look to introduce or update such security systems, it is important to review the level of testing products have undergone to ensure they are appropriate for application. Industry recognised grading systems are often the most comprehensive way to do this.
For padlocks, the Central European Norm (CEN) is a testing standard that compares products on a number of different requirements to determine in which grade they belong. Ranging from general use (Grade 2) to those suitable for maximum security applications (Grade 6), the ratings provide specifiers with an insight into which products available on the market are the most appropriate for them.
So water companies can be confident in their decision, we are delighted to confirm that the Thorlock has now been successfully tested to EN 12320 Grade 5 on the CEN scale. Made from 316 grade stainless steel, the unique Thorlock continues to be the ideal solution for those working in the utility industry – especially within the water sector – providing the ‘Extra High’ level of security required.
