Rebecca Solomon – Employee Spotlight
How long have you worked at dormakaba?
A: 2 years in June
Could you tell us your job title and a little about what the role entails?
A: 4 months ago, I joined the ACS department as Support Coordinator. In this role, I manage project orders, handle processing and invoicing through SAP, and support project managers with day-to-day coordination, while ensuring a high level of customer service.
Can you describe a typical work day for yourself?
A: A typical workday involves monitoring customer and internal emails and processing new project and service orders through SAP. I also attend weekly meetings to review the project pipeline and discuss the status of open projects. I follow up on parts and outstanding actions to ensure projects are completed on time.
What is your favourite part of your job?
A: Since moving to the ACS team, I have really enjoyed collaborating with my UK colleagues. Everyone has been incredibly helpful during my transition into the role and very welcoming.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
A: Outside of work, I enjoy staying active and spending time with family and friends. Over the past year I’ve really gotten into the gym and usually attend three to four classes a week. My favourite is the Saturday morning class, which gets me up and moving for the day, often followed by a coffee or a bit of shopping. When the Irish weather allows, I also enjoy going on long walks with my loved ones and my cocker spaniel, Lennie.
What’s something most people at work might not know about you?
A: I am recently engaged! My partner proposed over the Christmas period while my family were visiting (I am originally from Hertfordshire, UK), which made it especially meaningful to have everyone together.
If you could swap roles with anyone for a day (inside or outside of dormakaba), who would it be?
A: I’m not exactly sure, but I’ve always been drawn to creative work like staging or interior design, so id love something along those lines.
What do you enjoy most about working at dormakaba?
A: When I joined dormakaba nearly two years ago, there were just nine of us in the Ireland business. I’ve really enjoyed being part of such a close-knit team. We’ve grown to 13, and it looks like there’s even more growth ahead!
What advice would you give to someone starting at dormakaba?
A: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Everyone is very supportive, and taking the time to understand the business and the people around you really helps you settle in and grow.
And finally……..Dogs or Cats?!
A: Definitely dogs!
