Meet Dave Lee: dormakaba Ireland’s New Sales Manager

We’re delighted to welcome Dave Lee as the new Sales Manager at dormakaba Ireland. With nearly three decades of experience in the industry and a passion for customer engagement, Dave brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and enthusiasm to our team. We caught up with him recently to learn more about his background, his goals in the role, and what he’s looking forward to most.

Q: Dave, can you tell us a bit about your career so far and the path that led you to join dormakaba Ireland?

“Sure! I’ve been in the industry for 28 years now. I actually started out as an electrician, but that path changed pretty quickly when I discovered I was colour blind – not ideal when you're dealing with wiring! Thankfully, the company I was working with at the time saw potential in me and offered me a more office-based role. That was a turning point. From there, I moved through a variety of positions and companies, gaining a broad perspective on the industry.

Before joining dormakaba, I was with a company where I was selling more of a concept than a tangible product, which presented its own challenges. So when the opportunity with dormakaba came up, it really stood out to me. The brand's strength, reputation, and scale were instantly appealing. But beyond that, it was the team’s energy and the sense of belonging that really drew me in. I’m also excited about our upcoming move into the new office – it’s always great to start fresh in a new space.”

Q: What are your goals stepping into the role of Sales Manager, and what do you hope to bring to the team?

“There’s a lot I want to achieve here. First and foremost, I’d love for dormakaba to be the go-to product across all sectors – to be the first name people think of when it comes to access solutions. I’m especially interested in continuing to grow our success in the specification side of the business. What really sets us apart is our ability to partner with clients right from the start of a project through to completion and even servicing. That’s a powerful message.

From a leadership perspective, I want to empower the team. My aim is to give everyone the tools and support they need to keep doing an amazing job. Leadership for me is about enabling others to succeed – and I’m really looking forward to doing just that here.”

Q: What are you most looking forward to as you settle into this new role and get to know our customers and partners?

“Getting out there and talking to people – that’s what excites me most. I really enjoy solution selling, and with the strength of dormakaba’s portfolio, I see huge potential to deliver tailored solutions to our clients. I’m looking forward to deepening existing relationships and forging new ones. There’s also a strong sense of momentum within the team, and I’m eager to contribute to our continued growth and success. For me, it's all about collaboration – with customers, partners, and colleagues alike.”

Q: When you're not working, how do you like to spend your time?

“Well, I’m a married father of three – and now a very proud grandfather too! We recently welcomed Sonny into the family, which has been amazing. I’m a big fan of the League of Ireland and especially my team, Bohemians FC. I also follow MMA and rugby quite closely. Outside of sport, I enjoy getting outdoors – you’ll often find me walking my two dogs, Chuck and Mac. They definitely help me unwind after a busy day!”

Bonus Q: How do you see the access control and security landscape evolving, and where do you think dormakaba can make the biggest impact?

“The landscape is evolving rapidly, especially with the integration of digital technologies. There’s a clear move towards more intelligent, connected systems – and dormakaba is well-positioned to lead in that space. Our ability to offer comprehensive, end-to-end solutions is a real strength. I believe we can make a significant impact by helping clients navigate these changes with confidence, providing not just products, but true partnership and expertise.”
