dormakaba SA streamlines cycling sponsorship for 2021
Following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on all sporting codes globally, and the lockdown in South Africa, dormakaba South Africa has optimised its cycling sponsorship for the new year. To this end, Robyn de Groot will remain with the team. Unfortunately, the organisation has had to make the difficult decision of not renewing the contracts of Amy McDougal and Samantha Sanders.
This is not a reflection on both cyclists continued commitment and passion for the team, but rather the harsh realities of a post-lockdown world. As a responsible corporate citizen, it has responsibilities to all its stakeholders and must ensure the business is in a sufficiently strong financial position to weather this black swan event.
dormakaba has over the past few years sponsored some of South Africa’s top cyclists, including Samantha, Amy, and Mike Posthumus. Last year, six-time SA XCM Champion Robyn joined the dormakaba team. In addition to sponsoring professional MTB outfit, dormakaba South Africa initiated an innovative ambassador programme to support talented MTB cyclists who have the potential of turning professional.
