dormakaba supports Wollies and gives voice to the voiceless
As part of its ongoing and effective CSI programme, dormakaba, a leading provider of smart and secure access solutions, has confirmed its financial support for – and participation in – the Wollies annual sleepathon challenge on 1 September 2018.
Wollies is a non-profit animal welfare organisation and project that runs an annual ‘sleepathon’ fundraising event whereby people volunteer to sleep in an enclosure with stray dogs for 24 hours.
The organisation is reliant upon donations and public contribution to continue to provide its service. In addition to general animal welfare, re-homing, care and direct assistance, the main message to communities is sterilisation.
To help give ‘a voice to the voiceless’, dormakaba has come on board and offered to sponsor volunteer Enscha Labuschagne, the company’s Architectural Sales Manager, who is excited to be taking part.
The company is also collecting other donations in the form of food, blankets and financial contributions.
“I am so looking forward to this challenge as I feel my sole purpose in life is to help those that cannot speak for themselves. I would like to challenge as many people as possible to make a difference, however small, to the lives of these animals,” said Labuschagne.
“They once had families of their own, and for one day I get to be a part of the pack and also get to feel how it must be like to live in a cage,” she added.
The person raising the most funds will receive a trophy and a seven-day holiday for five people at Mount Amanzi Game Lodge near Hartbeespoort. The holiday, which has to be taken in December 2018, is valued at R11 000.
Should Enscha win, she intends giving the prize back to Wollies. It will then be auctioned to raise additional funds for the organisation.
